As we approach the year-end holiday season of another year marked by significant technological advancements, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI), the importance of human connections and cultural heritage has never been more pronounced. This sentiment was beautifully encapsulated at the Swedish Julbord (Christmas dinner), organised by the Swedish Business Council in partnership with the Embassy of Sweden in UAE, held at the Loulou’a Ballroom of The Ritz-Carlton Dubai.

A Golden Celebration of Swedish History and Culture

2023 marks a double jubilee year for Sweden—HM The King's 50th jubilee and the 500th anniversary of Gustav Vasa's election as King of Sweden. The gold theme of the Julbord event in Dubai paid homage to these historic milestones.

Upon arrival, guests were welcomed by the Pioneer the Possible (2023) exhibition, first showcased at the National Day of Sweden celebrations in Abu Dhabi in June. The exhibition and well-known corporate product display showcased the remarkable achievements and innovations that have shaped Sweden's industrial and innovative journey.

Guests were treated to an array of traditional Swedish Christmas dishes, from the savoury pickled herring and gravlax to the sweet Ris à la Malta (Swedish rice pudding), each a reminder of our rich culinary traditions.

As a sponsor for the third consecutive year, the involvement of Várri Consultancy goes beyond mere participation. We see it as an extension of our commitment to fostering strong business relationships and supporting cultural exchanges that underline our shared values and visions for a collaborative future.

The Power of Personal Connections

The gala dinner table of Várri Consultancy was a microcosm of diverse nationalities, industries and professions—a testament to the power of personal networking. From healthcare fintech pioneers like Karim Dakki and Ghafoor Ahmad of Klaim to Johanna Moyano of Rocketship Media Lab, each guest brought a unique perspective, enriching our discussions beyond business dealings. These personal interactions, particularly in a festive and relaxed setting, are invaluable for understanding and meeting our clients’ evolving needs.

The event also offered a chance to discuss the often-overlooked aspect of personal recovery and rest in the demanding world of business. In a year where AI has made great strides, such discussions remind us of the irreplaceable value of human touch in our increasingly digital world.

Looking Ahead

Drawing inspiration from discussions on innovation and cultural exchange, we at Várri Consultancy are more committed than ever to balancing technological advancements with the human aspects of business. We look forward to continuing our role in strengthening Swedish-UAE business relations, embracing both our heritage and the possibilities of a forward-thinking future.

As we move into the new year, we hold onto the spirit of the Julbord—a celebration of our past, an appreciation of the present, and an optimistic outlook for the future.

May this festive season bring you joy, peace, and prosperity.
