What does Várri mean?
Várri means arctic mountain in Northern Sámi (or Saami). They are some of the oldest mountain ranges in the world – eternal protectors of the north, overlooking vast landscapes of wilderness.
Várri can also refer to means or (financial) resources.
The spelling ‘várri’ is used in the dialects Inari Saami, Mansi, Northern (Swedish) Lapp, Norwegian Lapp, Proto-Finno-Ugric, Proto-Saami, and South Saami. In contrast, in other dialects, it is spelt ‘varre’.

Sámi is a rare and old group of Uralic languages native to northern Scandinavia and north-western Russia. Whilst at times confused as one language, it is rather a group of several languages. In Sweden, Northern Sámi, Lule Sámi, Pite Sámi, Ume Sámi and Southern Sámi are spoken.
